UDE
The University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) is one of the largest German universities (around 40,000 students and 4,400 academic and non-academic staff) with an excellent research reputation.
The Department „Information Systems for Productions and Operations Management“ (WIP) is the leading German research cluster in the fields of competence modelling, technology enhanced learning (TEL), quality development and quality assurance in HR with a special focus on innovation, evaluation, QM, and standardisation for TEL. It has gained an outstanding expertise as the leading German institution for TEL evaluation due to the unique engagement in European (Chair CEN/TC 353) and international (ISO Convener in SC36) standardisation bodies by its team leader for QM, evaluation and standardisation, Prof. (KR) Christian M. Stracke:
Many research projects were obtained and coordinated by the department WIP including Q.E.D. as of the biggest projects on quality and evaluation in e-Learning (budget: 4.0 Mio Euros) and many other European research and development projects funded by the EC (amongst them as coordinator: WACOM, eCOTOOL, Q-Cert-VET, EQO, CEN e- Learning Quality, and as core partner: VOA3R, COMPAT, TRIANGLE, EQO, eACCESS). In addition, the department WIP has participated in a huge amount of (mainly European) research and development projects, leading to the average of 2-3 Mio Euros/year of funding budgets. The full list of the current research and development projects is available online.
