Department of Crop Science of the Agricultural University of Athens is the education of the new scientists for the development and competitiveness of the Greek agricultural sector. For this purpose, new knowledge is offered, aiming the increase of the plant production and using means safe for the environment and human health. Seminars at various levels are also organized. Furthermore, practical advices are also offered to farmers in the aspects of Crop Science and Crop Protection.
Laboratory of Vegetable Crops comprises, offering under- and post- graduated studies, as well as PhD studies, has several publications in international/national research journals and conferences. Its main research activities are hydroponics, irrigation issues of vegetables, effect of the water (quality and quantity) in plant production and several topics related to plant nutrition, vegetable protection (disease and pest control) and harvest and post- harvest physiology of vegetables.
